PUPPY PRE SCHOOL

Lorna has been running puppy training for over 10 years in the Eastern Suburbs, and consistently updates the course to reflect current information. Puppy Pre School is a great step to starting your puppy off on the right paw. Learn about dog behaviour and use this to teach your puppy the correct behaviour in the beginning and avoid problem behaviour in later years. The aim of Puppy Pre School is to educate both dog and owner.

Now taking bookings for Puppy pre school! please email lornamcneill@optusnet.com.au to book your puppy in. If you do miss out please ask about a private lesson for your puppy!!

Puppy School will cover

Preventative medicine – Lorna is a Veterinary Nurse, puppy school will include discussion on worming, grooming, vaccinations, desexing, general care and what to do in an emergency.

Obedience training – Learn how to teach your puppy good manners using positive motivational training, how to establish good manners for years to come, how dogs learn and how to gain control of your dog without punishment. We will Cover the usual sit, drop, stay, come, walking on a lead and much more – even a party trick!

Socialisation – With other dogs, children and adults, teach your dog about the big wide world around him in a low key manner to help your puppy gain confidence and social skills.

Problem Behaviour – The first session is without your puppy, Lorna will be discussing Positive training methods, what makes a well behaved and adjusted dog, how to avoid chewing, digging, barking, jumping up, separation anxiety, mouthing/biting, escaping, destructive behaviour and toilet training.

Puppy Pre School is for all puppies aged between 8-16 weeks of age, this is the time your pup’s behavioural development that they are particularly amenable to learning good or bad behaviour. So when you encourage your 10kg Labrador puppy to jump up to say hello, just remember he’ll soon be 30kg and would have learnt that jumping up is a good way to get your attention. Learn how to teach your dog “good canine manners” before bad habits form.

The course runs for 5 weeks at 1 hour/week, two people per puppy may attend for a cost of $150 payable at the vets by Cash or via direct bank deposit prior to start date. Please email Lorna for bank deposit details lornamcneill@optusnet.com.au Children over 7 years are welcome, however they must concentrate on there own puppy and not interfere with other participants training time or dog.

Children under 7 years are not recommended to attend, as the class is fast paced and does not provide time for young children to play with other puppies. Lorna will discuss ideas to try at home on how to involve young children in your puppies training. Your course fee covers the lessons, email notes, handouts and training for your puppy and a max of two people.

The course instructor is Lorna McNeill who has over 12 years experience, is a Qualified Veterinary Nurse and an Accredited Instructor.

Lorna also has experience with training assistance dogs for people in wheelchairs and as a “pets as therapy” training instructor and assessor. She is also a volunteer for lifeline as a telephone crisis support counsellor!
